MOCA Art Classroom

In order to actively promote the diverse development of art education, MOCA Taipei encourages greater contact between art and the general public. It was this idea that led to the establishment of “MOCA Art Classroom” in the summer of 2008. This program invites local artists from a wide range of backgrounds, uses many different materials and develops many weekday art classes for students to attend. The first summer class Mapping Together was planned by teacher A Teh as a family experience for the summer months and led by Hsia Hsia, focusing on children’s love of paper cutting. There were four second tier classes in autumn; “Handmade Miniature Dollhouse Workshop”, “The Secrets of Pulp Paper” with creative classes focusing on the use of such different materials as paper pulp, miniatures, metalwork and the written word. The four third tier classes in winter were designed to correspond to the festive atmosphere at the end of the year; “Teacher Meng Hua’s handmade paper Workshop", “Teacher Chung Ming’s Printing School”, “Teacher Guang Lin’s Metalwork Workshop” and “Teacher Chiu Yi’s Batik Handicraft Class.” These classes showed students how to create a variety of mementoes for the festive period.
